Interesting point. So the prophecies are not true?
The “prophecy” of the destruction of the Jewish Temple came true in the same sense that a report of a person in 1974 prophesying that the World Trade Center would be destroyed came true. At least three possibilities exists for this account;
  • A. It was a guess by someone in 1974*
  • B. It was a complete fabrication written after 2011.
  • C. It was a partial fabrication written after 2011 attributed to a historical person living in 1974.

• Option A being a prophetic account, rather than a guess, can be dismissed a priori.

Returning to the subject of anachronisms, are there any examples of anachronisms in the synoptic gospels dating to the third century? So far, proposed anachronisms in the synoptic have generally dated no later than the second century. For example , Luke 4:16 may contain a double anachronism. .

He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read.
Due to the fact that neither Nazareth or Synagogues existed in the first century! (see below)

3) Synagogues in Galilee

General Reasons

1) I think everyone would agree that synagogues became more common in Israel after the destruction of the Temple.

2) The destruction of the (Temple/Jerusalem) would have caused a religious migration to Galilee (especially after Bar Kochba).

Specific Reasons

1) There is little archeological evidence for synagogues in 1st century Galilee. The best book I've seen on ancient synagogues is The Ancient Synagogue (or via: amazon.co.uk) by Lee Levine (2000). Page 8:

FWIW, the following website claims that there is archaeological evidence for synagogues in the first century.
