The problem I had with the program is that it was just a Christian infomercial. If they had really wanted to do an analysis they would have included additional sources such as the Talmud's Sanhedrin verses that in one place state he was stoned to death in Lud, and in another place state that the Sanhedrin had him strangled to death by hanging on the eve of the passover.

Including the Roman historian Celsus statements as preserved by Origen in his work "Contra Celsus" would have been another source for comparison.

By basing the program only on the writings in the 4 gospels showed that they were only interested in selling the Christian version of the story.

I saw the show last night, and I have to agree. They didn't event attempt a critical review of evidence, they simply assumed that everything in the Gospels was true as written. At best, they occasionally mentioned that the Gospels didn't all agree on a particular detail.

Btw, the Talmud it is not inconsistant about the form of death. The Law specified death by stoning. After the victim was dead, the corpse was hung from a tree for a day (by the feet?), then taken down and buried by the end of the day. If a passage referred to a hanging, you can be certain that it was actually the hanging of a corpse that had been stoned, and that strangulation was never implied.
