In the case of Peter, his words stand for themselves. Nearly 50% of all history is recorded by only one eyewitness.
Wow, care to make another completely innacurate statement you pulled out of nowhere?

From Richbee:

short list if idiots
Anyone who puts David Strauss, Bruno Bauer, Albert Schweitzer and Elizabeth Calire Prophet in the same list doesn't know their history. The first three are distinguished scholars. Prophet is a right-wing weirdo and religious nut case.

Get thee back to Religion 101.

I suggest that you read the link attached to that post. It is a fascinating read of fallacies, uncritical evaluations, and complete bullshit. It is not long and can be skimmed without too much trouble. Trust me, it is worth it just for the incredulity you will feel. If that is where Richbee gets his information then I am not surprised by the 'quality' of his posts.

I really wish you would answer TomboyMom's question about Moby Dick.

Where did the claim on the page that skeptics used to doubt the existence of Pilate come from? Sound suspiciously like a straw man to me.

It is, of course. We have always known about Pilate since he is mentioned in extra-biblica sources quite a bit. It's just lie upon lie in that link.

Actually, IIRC, someone...maybe Wells or Russel, said something about Pilate's existance that was totally misconstrued and taken out of context as usual.

Did any skeptic think Pilate a myth - split from Bishop of Durham denies we have a soul challenged anyone to find a skeptic who had denied the existence of Pilate.

It was followed up here

Ahhh it would seem I don't recall correctly... not even an out of context quote to run with.

Why be concerned about fictional stories?

There is no difference between the Jesus of History and the Jesus of the Christian faith!
