There is also 1 Corinthians chapter 1:
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

I wonder where "it" is written MortalWombat. It doesn't sound like anything I remember from the O.T.

But this, 'Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?' reminds me why I'm angry at Christianity often. That statement is an open sneer to anyone who busies himself with real life.

Perhaps this one:

Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exaleth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ
II Corinthians 10:5

Not much room for free intellectual inquiry in this verse.

This (unsurprisingly) makes no reference to intellectuals (the word does not occur in the NIV, at least), but it does provide an immediate doctrinal defense against any fancy-pants intellectual argument that seems to justify believing that there is no god: the arguer is automatically a fool.
This is nothing but clear evidence that the bible contain ad hominem along with other logical fallacies. As such it is a testimony to the falseness of the bible and a verification of the claim that the bible does not present reasonable arguments in its favor.

Thus, anyone who is persuaded by the bible to become christian does so for reasons other than rational reasons - such as emotional reasons.

Unless you have writings preserved of every single scholar of the day, and have them assessed by the most competent scholars of ours, you can hardly make that claim.

It's from Isaiah 29:14
Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder;
the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.
