Did you even read my post, Joseph?

You call prostituting your wife "fibbing"? And I ask again, why didn't the omnipotent, omniscient YHWH say something to Abraham? Something like: you're safe, turkey. Keep your wife and morality intact. I am the all-powerful YHWH, and I will protect you!

Face it, YHWH was an asshole, and Abraham was his apprentice. In fact, many of the patriarchs were jerks. Hell, Isaac followed in daddy's footsteps by prostituting his wife to the king of the Philistines. Moses was a murderer. David was an adulterer and a murderer. Solomon makes Hugh Hefner look like a eunuch. Do you really admire these fictional characters?
These are strong words even if they are true Joan.

The sister-wife series appears at least three times. The patriarchs were dysfunctional, you'd think Abraham and Sarah, and Isaac would have a quiet evening outside the tent looking at the stars and reminisce about the old days. Abraham would kid Sarah about being a few inches from giving Pharoh a BJ.

Maybe Isaac remembered the story after he told the king (he never seemed the same after the Akeida) and decided to let the king know what was going on by having sex with Rebecca where Avimelekh could see. The king realizes they are not brother and sister, although figuring the times were as lawless as the bible tells us, I'm not sure why he doesn't think they are just perverts or weirdos.

Lester Grabbe, is a pretty conservative biblical scholar. He thinks Solomon was historical for some reason but suggests he wasn't David's son... short lived dynasty.

A guy with 700 wives and 300 concubines is compensating for something. Assuming Solomon was "Jewish," (after all he built the temple) he would have to take seven days off to spend a honeymoon with each wife, so that's 4900 days of vacation right there or about 40% of his entire reign.

One belief system says imposing is the wrong way: entry must be made very testing - and leaving easy [wish they'd do this with driving licenses]. You will find the west imposed and changed and made majestic laws fullfilled away. But this was a lost cause - every world accepted law - bar none - is contained only in the Hebrew bible.

Check any bona fide institution, and nominate a law from elsewhere? The US Constitution is a result of over-turning medevial Europe's laws - namely the western laws are based on non-European Hebrew laws. Democrasy, in its correct form, also comes from the Hebrew bible. Its just that the word 'religion' has bad maggage - and scapegoating all blame is the easiest path.

Is it worth responding to?

I think it's at least worth going through your oldest aplphabetical book routine.

The "sister wife" stories are historically important. The bible is saying that everyday life was so lawless in Egypt and Canaan that a man traveling with a reasonably attractive wife would be killed. You have stated previously that the bible is an accurate historical picture of that period. This is a legitmate challenge to your statement.

The other statements are also accurate. Solomon moreover participated in human sacrifice to other Gods according to Kings.

You must be reading a differnt bible and history then I am. Christianity through Paul rejected the requiremnt to maintain Jewish law in order to be a Christian. The Judeo tradition is a theorcacy not unblike Islam.

Up through post WWII Jews and anything Jewish was anathema to Christians in Europe and the USA. In a somewhat bizzare shift only recently have some evengelical Christians glomed onto Judaism and Isreal as their own, and soem idendtifying with Jews.

To call the USA 'Judaeo-Christian' is only a fairly recent idea.

Thye ancient Jews and some modern ones belive they were the chosen folks of an all powerful god to the exclusion of others with no compromnise.

Modern Christians with few eceptions generaly can not accept the validity of any other faith.

The centuries of RCC theorcacy in Europe made majestic laws?

Religion is superstition, it may be benificial superstion for many and opressive supperstition for others in ridiculous relgious conflicts. but all in all, superstition.

She was his neice - however, this only confirms the law of incest was varied then from now; incest was most rampant in Egypt, where marraiges occured to prevent loss of asset. Abraham and sarah were not Arabian or Arab - the latter had not yet emerged at this time. They came from Ur in Meso, which was then inhabited by the peoples replaced by the Persians today. Abraham's ancestry is further sourced to Shem, one of the sons of Noah. In any case, my premise relies on the text only.

Sarah is regarded one of the three most beautiful women in biblical history - in the category of Eve and Esther. The hebrew word 'fair' denotes blonde, among other things, and this is clarified by the reaction to Sarah in Egypt.

The serpent certainly thought Eve was attractive, and had sex with her:

Quote:
And the woman said, The serpent seduced me... Genesis 3-13
The hebrew word Hishi can be translated beguiled, but we're all adults here. This is pretty standard stuff.

http://mystery-babylon.org/cain.html

Quote:
...I have gotten a man from the LORD. (Genesis 4:1)
Quote:
Don't eat from the tree and don't fuck the serpent
might have been a clearer warning, but maybe the two things were related.

Sarah strikes me as being more of a dominatrix, which definitely was a turn on for God:

Quote:
And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy handmaid. In all that Sarah saith unto thee, hearken unto her voice. Genesis 21:12
They say she died of heartbreak when Abraham took little 35 year old Isaac out for a barbecue. What goes around comes around.

Esther was a real goddess... literally. Her name is derived from Ishtar, maybe Asherah. There's little doubt that Purim is pagan, the only question is whether it's origin is Assyrian, Babylonian, or Persian.

So are you saying that you can't refute my points? You're conceding defeat?

'beguiled'. It fits better in the context of 'the most cunning of all creatures', and being tricked: Eve inadvertantly erred when she said the fruit cannot be touched, as opposed eaten - the serpent got her here. This was Adam's error. Suggest you get a bona fide copy of this book.

It was prudent to Persianise the name in dictartorial regimes.

The Hebrews were monotheist before the Babylon invasion, even in Egypt and canaan.
