I have read the entire thing, including the books which aren't in the Protestant version. I have read the Gospels in particular about five or six times.

Read all of the Protestant Canon and the apocrypha in English (thus the Catholic Canon). I think I read the other books of the Orthodox Canon, too.
Read the Jewish Canon in English, much of it in Hebrew, a less in German and Greek.
Haven't read the entire Ethiopian Christian Canon yet, but Enoch was a blast.

But perhaps I should ask: which Bible is afdave asking about, anyway???

Vulgate.

Obviously.

All told, I've probably read about 1/20th of the Bible. To be honest, it's some of the most boring shit I've ever looked upon.

That's why I turn to second-hand analysis, because it frames the original prose in a manner I can understand, and gives a lot of much-needed context to its contents.

I can't read the Bible. It's too repulsive and ridiculous to try and understand what it's talking about.

Now, how about getting back to those Flood layers, davey?
What Stevie said. The Pinhead clan is known for wisdom exceeding other mortals. So how's about dealing with the actual questions already on your plate, Dave...and not avoiding those with diversionary tactics?

I think he's talking about the famous inerrant Bible as dictated by God. Dave has claimed in the past that any given translation of the Bible is not the original inerrant Bible; he's also claimed that he can tell which translations are closer to the inerrant Bible (possibly using special glasses that an angel gave him). As such, he will doubtless claim that none of us has actually read The Bible.

Iron Age myth. With (probable) use of some Bronze Age source materials.

Speaking of which, I have never read the whole Bible cover to cover, but I am currently in the process. I am doing a sort of 1 on 1 bible study with a "believer". We just finished up Genesis and I've been introducing her to the Documentary Hypothesis. She is not buying it - yet.

But I must say, it is a pretty interesting read, especially with a good commentary. Well, except for the priestly genealogies.

That Moroni sure gets around.

Do ya like gladiator movies, Davey? (Apropos of absolutely nothing, I just thought it sounded funny at the moment)

That's exactly right!
