And with most prophecies encrypted in symbolism and metaphor, it's impossible to tell what the prophecy warns about until after it comes true.

The evangelical Christian eschatology (end times study) teaches that the world will be so messed up, with war threatening annihilation, that people will turn to a man of peace who displays mystical powers and performs miracles, including calling down fire from the sky to devour Christians.

In exchange for "peace and safety," Christians say the world will flock to this miraculous person, who among other things is able to bring about peace in the Middle East, and can get Israelis and Arabs to finally get along.

He solves many of the world's problems, the Jews hail him as the messiah and the world willingly cedes all authority to him.

Alas, this man is too good to be true according to the Christian teachings, and he turns out to be the antichrist.

He is assassinated, rises from the dead and at this point, is "screaming for vengeance." He allegedly forces humanity to take a loyalty mark in their right hand or forehead (some Christians say this is a microchip, others say its a bar code or tattoo) in order to buy or sell.

The mark would correspond to the antichrist's number, or six-hundred and sixty-six.

If you don't take the mark, you're pretty much doomed on earth — or forced to steal and kill to survive, like the Tribulation Force believers in the Left Behind books.

If you do take the mark, eternal torment in the lake of fire awaits.

Not a good option, and pretty dire punishment from a God who told us to forgive people 70 times seven times, and not just to love our neighbors, but our enemies, as well.

Can you feel the love through all that heat and the smell of sulphur?

In Revelations the the four beast kingdoms of Daniel are united into one beast kingdom headed by the ten horns and the beast king. The woman that rides it appears to be Jerusalem because the great city "where our Lord was slain" is Jerusalem. Jerusalem may very well be the capital city of the world when the beast makes it his throne. Revelations also makes it clear that a Global Government will already be in place before the Beast arises, because the ten horns gives their power and strength to the beast. I will write more on this later. But revelations do indeed make it clear that a Global Government will appear. Paul did say that before the beast arise that there will be a world call for "Peace and Saftey" isn't it strange that Global Government is relying on this call for legitamacy? And from the looks of it Peace and Safety will be ushered in through war, which is why people will say "Who is like the Beast (his real name not given yet) who is able to make war against him?" Which appears that this is why Paul says that sudden destruction will come upon them when they make this call....Because Peace and Safety will be established through war, deceit and oppression. Daniel says that this king will move to destroy many countries and he does it because trouble arises out of such and such and he moves to put down these troubles. Sounds almost like George Orwell's 1984 doesn't it? I mean the Peace through perpetual war and the lack of civil freedoms in the name of Peace and Security. If you connect the dots in bible prophecy what you will find is a News Forcaster, which tells alot about this coming Global Government. But more on that Later. Adios

All cultures MUST relinquish ideologies that hold them hostage in a world that is now globalized. We can no longer afford to be divided by culturally conceived ideas that may have worked when cultures were isolated. More specifically, ALL cultures developed in their own historical, cultural, social, and environmental context. What may have been valid for these isolated groups of humans is NO LONGER VALID! We must UNITE if peace is to prevail.

Revelations also makes it clear
Nothing is made clear in Revelation.

For more on the ridiculous interpretations that come from this pile of hallucinations, check out The History of the End of the World (or via: amazon.co.uk), by Jonathan Kirsch. Since the time of Jesus every generation has had some nut jobs proclaiming that the signs of the end-times are upon us. What did they all have in common? Obviously, they were all wrong ...

I think that's what the people said circa the era of the Tower of Babel.
