All one can say is, Sad. Not surprising, though, in the light of the writer of John's evident boredom with bothering to put down anything remotely resembling the kind of information occasionally provided in the less fanciful sequences of the Synoptics and Thomas. The writer of John's sole interest seems to be in getting back at others, not the split interests in providing both propaganda and some degree of historical biography as in the checkered Synoptics and Thomas.
You are trying very hard to maintain some veracity in those texts. At least one can admire your tenacity despite your assumption-riddled position.

And this whole split based on your just plain nutty claim of hate speech. Buffoonesque allegations on your part don't help you communicate.

I know you can't see yourself rub the egg into your own face, but when someone reacts to the ludicrous claim that "the entire New Testament is Jewish literature" -- ludricrous in the sense that they are speaking only out of ignorance, not having any means of seriously checking the "entire" claim -- by saying that it "is simply wishful thinking...", your outburst is simply revelatory of your starting commitments.

People may scoff at the notion of a Mithraic connection with christianity, but does one realize that Cilicia were Paul is supposed to have originally lived and much of Anatolia (Pontus, Cappadocia, Armenia and the Commagene) was home for the middle Mithraic religion, that which had left Iran and would be taken up by the Romans? The Mithraic religion in Anatolia was a mystery religion (as seen in Plutarch's indications) and Mithra was savior (as the focus of the mystery -- remember Paul's mystery?), ie it was through his deeds and death that the world received salvation. He had already come into this world and interacted with it before returning to the lord of heaven (Ahura Mazda).

The whole notion of the end of time is Persian in origin.

Jesus is portrayed not as a Jewish messiah but as a gentile savior in Paul and you have the temerity to splutter about "hate speech"! You are quite disconnected with the material you are trying to talk about, being more infused with alien apologetics (well, you aren't christian, are you?), to notice that, no, christianity is not entirely based on "Jewish literature".

Stuff your ridiculous and pathetic "hate speech" rhetoric in your pipe and smoke it. Why do you do so many things so wrong, when you don't seem to be an idiot?

There was no Palestine then. Try Judea.

Both Jews and Christians refused to offer sacrifices to the emperor, which in those times was akin to treason. The average Spaniard or Ionian could be forgiven for thinking the Jews were fools.
The Christians did not refuse - the Jews did. It is the difference between the Jews and spaniards and ionians. Rome lost: Israel did not bow to images of depraved Roman brutes. FYI, Rome knew well the Jews would never accept that decree and were hellbent on genocide - they knew the Jews had numerous existential wars over this same issue throughout their history and with the previous Roman Emperors; and the follow-up medevial church also knew that Jews would never accept a divine man based on European and Roman beliefs. Judea is the birthplace of Monotheism and the most majestic laws unto humanity. The right to freedom of belief is not negotiable.

Very confused. While Jews and Christians have a connection, this is based not on the NT depictions, but that of the moral/ethical laws and constants in the Hebrew bible - which European Christianity took on board - even by default and while villifying the Jews - because the Hebrew bible transcended and prevailed what they had before and after the NT emerged.

The only Jewish origin in the NT is the Hebrew bible, and this remains European Christianity's greatest act: they saw clearly and took it on board. That this was done via attached doctrines of negation and villification of the Jews is a separated matter. If someone here is inferring the Gospels is a Jewish work - they have to prove this, and this cannot be done via the Gosples. My understanding is that no Jews had any part in the formation of the Gospels.

Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out what this means. Surely there is no one else like Shmuley Boteach, author of Kosher Sex and personal rabbi to both Michael Jackson and Uri Geller.

You don't find the Gospel of John hate speech?

Cite your sources for all this. I no longer trust anyone on this stuff. Show me what you're using.

Careful. A little daylight is showing between you and the absolutists like aa. Are you sure you want to risk expulsion from the guild?

If there is a guild, it certainly does not include aa.
