In fact, the JWs believe all of the 144,000 will be JWs. According to them, no one is even eligible to be of the annointed until after the death Jesus.

Could people please give some reference as to where their assertions come from, beyond it's somewhere in the OT?

Charles Russell, the founder of all this, was also heavily into pyramidology. A lot of the doctrines and beliefs have a basis in that.
Just a nitpick. Charles Russell was not the founder of the original movement. He is responsible for the JWS. William Miller started the whole she bang.

David Icke ,if you can take him seriously ; states that the mormons and JW's are the same organisation . It makes for an interesting read if you're not prejediced about lizards .

I stand corrected. I was going off of what I remembered reading, and was focusing on the beliefs, rather than the people. Now that I think about it, I do remember Miller. Wasn't it the difference of opinion between Miller and Russell that split the original group into the JWs and the 7th Dayers?

I was a seven day Adventist for 19 years. Strangely I have this need to “defend them although I no longer believe their nonsense. Basically Russell started to doubt the Adventist interpretation of scripture. He made up his own with the required prophecies about when the word will end. A practice the JWS are still finding hard to relinquish. The failed prophecies do not seem to deter them though. For what it’s worth the Adventist has stopped this.

Nah, they are Adventist who keep all of Gods commandments. Among the 144,000 are the faithful ones who have died in the threefold message since 1844.

So basically, we have Jesus picking 144,000 Jewish men, 144,000 JWs and 144,000 Adventists all at once?
