Unpublished War scroll
My sources assert that a previously unpublished fragment of the War Scroll is about to be published.
A preliminary transcription has been released: 1.1. I was once out strolling one very hot summer's day 2. When I thought I'd lay myself down to rest 3. In a big field of tall grass 4. I laid there in the sun and felt it caressing my face 5. As I fell asleep and dreamed 6. I dreamed I was in a Hollywood movie 7. And that I was the star of the movie 8. This really blew my mind 9. The fact that me an overfed long haired leaping gnome 10. Should be the star of a Hollywood movie, hmmm 2.1. But there I was 2. I was taken to a place 3. The hall of the mountain kings 4. I stood high by the mountain tops 5. Naked to the world 6. In front of 7. Every kind of girl 8. There was long one's, tall ones, short ones, brown ones, 9. Black ones, round ones, big ones, crazy ones 10. Out of the middle, came a lady 11. [azul cosa de locos pero asi es, bueno, pero todas las cosas estan azul azul, porque estoy](1) 12. She whispered in my ear 13. Something crazy 3.1. She said, 2. Spill the wine, take that pearl 3. Spill the wine, take that pearl 4. Spill the wine, take that pearl 5. Spill the wine, take that pearl 4.1 I thought to myself, what could that mean 2. Am I going crazy, 3. [si aqui pero yo no estoy aqui mi cuerpo no esta aqui esta volando volando, verdad afuera](2) 4. [aqui estoy con mis padres ... ??? ... es mi onda](3) 5. or is this just a dream 6. Now wait a minute 7. I know I'm lying in a field of grass somewhere 8. So it's all in my head 5.1 And then I heard her say one more time 2. Spill the wine dig that girl 3. Spill the wine dig that girl 4. Spill the wine dig that girl 5. Spill the wine dig that girl 6.1 I could feel hot flames of fire roaring at my back 2. As she disappeared, but soon she returned 3. [... ??? ... tengo, tengo](4) 4. In her hand was a bottle of wine 5. In the other a glass 6. She poured some of the wine from the bottle into the glass 7. And raised it to her lips 8. [y esa mujer que le encanta ... ??? ...](5) 9. And just before she drank it, she said 7.1. take the wine dig that girl 2. spill the wine, dig that girl 3. spill the wine, dig that girl 4. spill the wine, dig that girl 5. take that girl, yeah! 8.1 It's on girl, all you gotta do is spill that wine 2. spill that wine, let me feel, let me feel hot, yeah! yeah! 3. spill the wine, spill the wine, spill the wine, spill the wine, 4. spill the wine, spill the wine, spill the wine, 5. dig that girl! Editor Eric Burdon scandalously suggests that the phrase "take that pearl" is a sexual innuendo. A few commentators have noted certain changes in language in certain places (refer to notes in text). These are apparently Spanish, a language previously unattested in the DSS. They can be tentatively reconstructed as follows: (1) Blue thing of the crazies, but that's how it is, right, but everything in blue, blue, because I am … ??? (2) yes here, but I am not here my body is not here my body is flying flying, right, outside (3) I am here with my parents ... ??? ... it's my deal ... (4) ??? … I have ... (5) and this woman likes ... ??? It has been suggested that this composition is actually verse and not prose, although it is hotly contested whether such versification can be documented during the era of composition. If verse, then the Spanish verses must be interpolations. This ancient composition may have influenced Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's 1867 play _Peer Gynt_, notably the spilling of wine and the frenzied madness, as well as the naming of one of the play's musical scores: "In the Hall of the Mountain King," by Edvard Grieg. I note the drinking of a substance that produces ecstatic revelations in Ch 8 & 9 roughly corresponds to 4 Ezra (Latin Apocalypse) 14:37-48: 37 So I [Ezra] took the five men as he (the Most High) had commanded me, and we went forth [into the field] and remained there. 38 And it came to pass on the morrow that, lo! a voice called me, saying: Ezra, open thy mouth and drink what I give thee to drink! 39 Then I opened my mouth, and lo! there was reached unto me a full cup, which was full as it were with water, but the colour of it was like fire. 40 And I took it and drank; and when I had drunk My heart poured forth understanding, wisdom grew in my breast, and my spirit retained its memory: 41 and my mouth opened, and was no more shut. 42 And the Most High gave understanding unto the five men, and they wrote what they were dictated in order, in characters which they knew not. 47 For in them is the spring of understanding, the fountain of wisdom, and the stream of knowledge. 48 And I did so ... Mr. Hindley,
I think this time you've really lost your marbles! Best, Solitary Man |

Well,
With all the lunacy and pseudo scholarship to be found here, I didn't think anyone would notice. Besides, I would contest the notion that DCHindley wrote the OP solely on the basis of his signature ("DCH") and an alleged message header, and shift the burden of proof to Solitary Man to prove that it was actually Hindley, rather than me, or Constantine (well, maybe that is Mountainman's domain). <Oh, it is time for my medicine ... ?> Gotta go! Too good, too good. Good to see some sanity here as well. I will admit, though, that I was more than a little disappointed to see that a previously unpublished fragment of the war scroll mentions Hollywood and has parts of it written in Spanish!

But what if say the song of songs is a similar piece from 2500 years ago that has become holified?
I can see a reason to worship the words of Lennon or Berry or Presley though. Quando mucho mi amore? |

The lyrics to War's "Spill the Wine" *does* sort of read a little like Ezekiel's vision of the Cheribum, doesn't it? DCH |

Frankly I think Jesus was influenced by The Doors' "Break On Through": "The gate is straight, Deep and wide". Clearly Matthew 7:14 is based on Morrison's lyric |

Then again, maybe the Doors were influenced by the bible? But back to the inanity. WRT the unpublished War scroll, Solomon Zeitlin may have been right after all, with the DSS being not just Medieval, but based on 19th century Norwegian plays! That connects a lot of dots! Skippy |
