Default Hadrian's construction of a temple to Aphrodite over Jesus' tomb?

In François Bovon open letter he makes this claim:

Quote:
the very ancient tradition of the Holy Sepulcher,
[was that] the emperor Constantine in the fourth
century C.E. built this monument on the spot at
which the emperor Hadrian in the second century C.E.
erected the forum of Aelia Capitolina and built on it
a temple to Aphrodite at the place where Jesus' tomb
was venerated.
This appears to substantiate a legend that Hadrian
constructed a temple to Aphrodite over Jesus' tomb.

Wow.

Does anyone know the source(s) for this?

Best wishes,

How does an ancient tradition substantiate a legend? It that all you require to upend your thesis that Constantine invented Jesus?

Holy Sepulcher

I am simply interested in the archaeological history
of the site of the tomb as asserted by Constantine,
and was unaware that another source appears to
claim that a temple to Aphrodite was located at
that same place by Trajan.

The modus operandi of Constantine was to demolish
the temples to Aphrodite, Diana, Asclepius, Apollo
and others, and then build a basilica over them.

I am wondering whether Constantine razed the temple
of Aphrodite in order to construct the christian basilica.

That's all.

Best wishes,
