Nothing like claiming that the Bible teaches us to have double standards for discrediting Christianity.

Hmmm. I wonder what she's on about, then? I just read through 1Corinthians, on your rec, and it seems my m-i-l is the one who's been led astray. But that's easily done - she believes anything she's told, if she thinks the speaker is a christian "authority". Perhaps it was her adulterous pastor who fed her the line about not judging christians.

I note she's also (according to Paul) not to keep company with a drunkard. She's been the co-dependent wife of an alcoholic for 51 years.

I won't be asking her about this, as discussion with her is futile. She doesn't think, she just parrots. I wanted to know more for my own benefit. It didn't seem like anything I could recall from Anglican studies. Thanks!

It would be too judgmental for me to say. :Cheeky:

But really, I think it's a case of someone who's got her hands over her ears and her eyes shut tight, humming a hymn loudly to drown out those pesky bits of reality that don't jive with her fantasy bible world. Real life must be a scary, scary place for my m-i-l. And then her son married ME! :devil3:
