One point of confusion for me is the involvement of the Sanhedrin.

I believe the trial and crucifixion are supposed to have occurred during the festival of Passover. I seem to remember hearing or reading somewhere (sorry to be vague) that the Sanhedrin didn't hold trials during Passover. So how could Jesus have gone before the Sanhedrin if it wasn't holding trials at that time?

Can someone clarify this? correct any misinformation on my part?
