About the bible,it's very construct,it's very essence, is proof of it's fallacy.The bible has been said to be the inspired word of God.It's been said by many,this inspired word is meant to instruct,to educate,to guide etc.If this bible were truly inspired by a God,no Man,past or present,would be capable,nor would it be possible,to apply any sort of humanes to it.That is no Man,could apply any human attributes to this word.This perfect word,could not hold opposing views to it,nor have differant meaning interpretations to it,nor be misunderstood,nor have an percievedcontridictions,nor need persuation to accept it.Why?Given the fact,it can have any human attributes applied to it, is the proof of it's man made connoction and concept.A God inspired bible,would just "BE".It would be impossible,for any Man to even have a thought in his head regarding the nor's above.

Let us suppose that the bible was "The Word of God". Then He would have described "Creation" accurately: the big bang, accretion of hydrogen, formation of stars and the abundance of the elements according to stability etc., the beginnings of life, evolution, the whole nine yards.

Now, what would the iron-age nomads have put into the creation stories that were passed on by word-of-mouth and eventually written down by the Sumerians and so on?

And how would readers interpret the resulting work?

Probably much like the creation stories we have passed down to us today.

We can only conclude that the bible was written by the people for the people. Inspired or not is irrelevant. Anyone who claims to understand the bible as the "Inspired Word of God" (tm) is a charlatan.

The problem is to explain the appearance of christianity
in an historical sense, the appearance of the new testament
texts, and the scientific and archaeological evidence that
is in our possession in a normal political theory of ancient
history, without having to invoke "DIVINE INTERVENTION".

However the Biblical Historians hold intellectual property rights
over the very existence of the christian interpretation of ancient
history, and expressly for the interesting period in question,
from the year DOT to the appearance of Constantine.

It is an intriguing state of affairs.
Ancient history is the field to do it.
