Paul equates "adaoption as sons" to the "redemption of our body".
Note also the "waiting eagerly" which shows that the adoption as sons is a future event for humans. Jesus being the first fruit as Paul puts it.
Yes and so an immortal man, resurrected with an immortal body is a son of god in a sense that a mortal earthly person is not.

And so Jesus as the immortal, son of god is highlighted in hebrews.

But this does not preclude the virgin birth as a mortal(capable of dying) man.

Yes, good point.
But I think there actually was a local census in that century (regulars on this board will know more about it) and that story was simply woven in to account for it.

I think the geneology thing is more of a killer. Joseph was the one descended from David; so is Christ is only the son of Mary he cannot be of the House of David.

If Jesus is god, then he's sitting at the right hand of himself.
Please explain.

Roman censuses were de facto not de jure. You were counted wherever you happened to be at the time of the count. They couldn't have cared less where you were as long as you paid your taxes.

No Roman record of a census in that area at that time.

Various explanations:

Jesus was adopted by Joseph.
The genealogy traces through Mary.
Joseph is an honorary father.
It's a miracle.

Default Who are the Witnesses?

Dear Truth Seekers,
It says in the Bible that you always need 2 or 3 witnesses in order to decide if something is reliable.
So who are the witnesses of Mary's virginity?
Certainly Matthew didn't even know Jesus until Jesus was 30 years old.
Luke probably never even met Jesus.

So who are Mary's witnesses?
What two or three witnesses were watching all the time to make sure that she never had penetration? (penetration no matter how slight is still sufficient to complete the act)

I think that it would be impossible to have 2 or 3 witnesses observe Mary 24 hours a day 7 days a week, up until the moment she became pregnant.

Just Mary's testimony is not sufficient.

BTW My mother says I was born of a virgin.
Ask.....and she will send you an e-mail attesting to that fact.
