The whole flood story (and most of Genesis) was concocted as a mnemonic to contain and retain concepts related to precise measurement. cubits, scale, proportion, and volume, and precise measurments of days, weeks, months, and years.

Huge portions of the Bible's contents are not literal but are intended to provide a colorful and memorable mnemonic device to call to remembrance numbers, scale, and proportion and the rules of plane geometry, or to get people thinking about the accurate measurement of length, width, hight, volume, and time.
Outlandish claims are intentionally made to make them memorable by drawing attention to the fact that they are outlandish and ridiculous. The clues are all over the place once one becomes aware of them.

For the ancient Priests who were trained in the interpretation and applications, these mnemonics were a tremendous educational and cultural asset.
On a more mundane level the superficial textual reading was employed to control and direct the energies and goals of the populace under the auspices of the Priesthood.

I don't know what geology would say one way or the other but miraculous events such as creation that occurred outside our concepts of time and space could not be verified.
How would they even evaluate a time dilation or a wrinkle in time.
Heck, without specific technology you couldn't even detect radio waves.

the flood myth according to the bible originated in Mesopotamia

Guess what we have coming out of Mesopotamia??

flood myth's plural

But theres a catch, in 2900 BC the Euphates overflowed after a 6 day thunderstorm and overflowed its banks that took a barge downstream that had goods and livestock on it. it landed next to a hill where a animal sacrife took place. The flood is attested, and it devistated the area.

this is the oldest flood myth in the area, google Ziusudra.

there was also a real man on board that is also found on the kings list, so even the man was real.

Semetic speaking Mesopotamians did migrate to Israel after 1200 BC and they did bring this and many other myths with them.

Like the bible, the further this story got away from the truth, the more it grew and expanded.

And you are correct, adding Allegory, Parables, poems, song's, legends, literal truths and some history.

when one only applies a literal interpretation, the beauty is lost from its original intent.

Sounds like crap. Even moreso as you have not produced any evidence for this.

And how can you call yourself an Hebrew? Or is that tongue in cheek?
I can understand a person might say they are Assyrian (even today) but how can a person say they are an Hebrew?
