Ozone-Cowboy:

Amlodhi and Mageth have addressed your example more succinctly than I. You are creating a false-analogy.

Anyways:

Quote:
How would you explain existence in another dimension?
Based on science.

Quote:
What about traveling faster than the speed of light?
Not currently possible, theoretically or experimentally, to travel faster than light travels in a vacuum. Note well, that scientists have tested the implications of the postulate and found that they fit. That is a critical difference.

Quote:
It's still action based upon belief sustained by confidence.
Confidence based on what? Oh yes . . . science. A parachute works because of the way things work which we know understand. Your false analogy is a bit like stating we have "belief" that a rock, when dropped, will fall.

Faith is belief without--I would add despite--evidence.

Quote:
I don't have an IQ of 140 or a post graduate degree so try to keep it simple. Some guys are wearing out my dictionary!
You have to start someplace. Many of us [Strawmen--Ed.] thought the Bible was a history book. As for IQ you may find solace from a former member of MENSA describing why he left the group:

Quote:
Never have so many been so proud of accomplishing so little with so much.

Gentlemen

Thank you for the lesson. It has been an interesting conversation for me, tripe for you most likely.

Recognizing that I'm out of my league I will bow out and observe from the side lines.

No need to "bow out."

Opinions become educated opinions through debate and analysis. Everyone has to start someplace. Provided you have an open mind and are polite no gentleman can abuse you.
