...very similar. The desire to have origins of characters make sense continues even today, and we continue to see people putting together very creative speculations to fill in the remaining blanks in the Christian story. How many 'the real jesus' books are out there? 1000?

....also, this was a Jewish tradition. Most of the OT is the same thing.
