Once huffington decided to stop running she got scared and asked for a week vacation from her boss for a family emergency, she told me she told her boss that she wants to visit her mother and help defeat arnold in the recall election.

She told me her boss said no problem.

I am so proud of her.
Well, she was quite effective. Her effort helped hold Arnold to about the same percentage of the vote as Gore got in '00

Actually, I think Arnold did better.

Anyways, I will take a moment to note how irresponsible it is to repeat the "admired Hitler" story without any real evidence.

You may not like the man, but no need to soil his character with this. Indeed, this is about as close to racism as you can get--you know . . . he sounds like an SS guy . . . those pesky Germans . . . they are all really Nazis.

Given that Jewish leaders from his home town are UPSET because of the work he has done AGAINST Neo-Nazis and antisemitism, this sort of character assassination is worthy only of cur.

Anyways, George the Younger may hire mark's wife for the next election. . . . [Stop that!-Ed.]

Why would they be upset because of his work against antisemitism? Shouldn't that make them happy?

With all due respect, I just think myself and some of the others are sick of mark starting sometimes two or three threads a day which are basically about something totally meaningless and rarely, if ever, facilitate discussion about politics. This is especially annoying in the PD forum, which is clustered enough as it is.
You had better watch it mr xorbie because if you ever get to heaven when I am God I guarantee that you will be burning in hell forever with jesus.

The whole "admiring Hitler" comment was taken completely out of context from what I have seen.

Saying you admire him for his public speaking abilities or his rising to power from nothing is a far cry from endorsing the Nazis.

I mean really......lets be reasonable here.

Okay... reasonably, any public figure who says in an interview that they admired ANYTHING about hitler is a fucking moron.

How so? Lots of people admire certain qualities or abilities that "evil" people have had.

Many of the greatest leaders and warriors were not exactly "nice" to everyone yet we can still acknowledge abilities or qualities they have.

That does not mean we approve of what they did with their abilities, position, or power. Hitler WAS a good public speaker and he did go from being a nobody to ruling a nation.

I can admire those qualities without admiring him as a person or admiring what he did with his power.

Yes, I understand what you're saying from a logical perspective, but the very fact that you would have to take time out to explain it to most people after you said it proves that it is simply not a very bright thing to say if you're a public figure. Public figures have been brought down for saying far less.

Yes, from a practical perspective a public figure should avoid such comments....since they will eventually be used against them (regardless of the original intention of the comment) in some manner.

So I agree with you that it was foolish of him to make the comment (not a very PC thing to do).

Good point Arken. I like it when people make points that are both practical and realistic.
