Poll results here: http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=216187 Only 3% have never read any of it.
Surely you don't believe those poll results More than half have read it cover to cover?

I'm not sure what percentage I've read to date, but when I'm done reading my list of "important books" I'll have read 52% of a KJV Bible.

Good point!
And apparently Dave is unfamiliar with tithing. His ignorance of Christianity and its history is so appalling that I wonder - occasionally - whether he's even read the Bible.

I gave serveral examples of prophecies (It doesn't matter Dave if you think they are convincing -- they are "gospel" for those believers just like biblical prophecies are "gospel" for you).

I also gave you an example of a private orphanage, funded by private, charity and run by private people -- all MUSLIMS. You can't honestly believe that only Christians do good work? I mean the Jews are well known for the philanthrophy. My inlaws donate more in charity every year than most people make. They aren't Christians.

I also gave you examples of Muslims being persecuted for reading/believing/translating the Quar'ran.

I answered every reason you gave and you now have an obligation to read the Quar'ran.

Or you can keep ignoring me. But other people aren't.
Just waiting for anything.

OK, so they didn't invent the idea of hospitals, but they developed the idea into a more impressive institution.

As for Islamic prophecies, do you have one or two that you think are quite convincing? ...
No, but I don't find the Christians claims of prophesy fulfilment any more convincing.

Quote:
As for charity work in general, are you telling me that people in Islamic countries are REQUIRED to give? That sounds like a tax. Something like Social Security. What I'm referring to in Christianity are private charities staffed and funded by volunteers who are donating voluntarily because they love God and love people.
No, I'm saying that religious Muslims in the US donate to charities because of their religious faith, because of what they see their faith requires, much as Christians do.

Notice how dave thinks that an Islamic prophecy that says that the Romans will be defeated in 10 years is not "that specific"...

But, at the same time, finds it amazing that some Bible prophet said that Tyre would fall, and Tyre fell... Centuries later.

Only read the Old Testament cover to cover once*. I found it mostly abominable. Worse yet, I found it mostly dull, achingly so. What I read of the New Testament showed no signs of improvement, so I opted to skim it and familiarize myself with it just enough to know what fundies like afdave are on about.

* Then again, there are very few novel-length things I've read more than once. I have a good memory, and I detest rereading.

He's still waiting for it to sink beneath the sea, too. Oh, and for Egypt to become a wasteland for 40 years. Tsk. But saying "amazing Biblical prophecies" just rolls right off his tongue ( he USED to claim all of them had been fulfilled, now he's a bit more cautious)

Shoehorning data into preconceptions is not the same as falsifying data. Everyone shoehorns to some extent including me. It is a natural human tendency which we must all fight against. If you are going to accuse me of things, let's try to stay factual, shall we?
We do stay purely factual when pointing to your deficiencies as a thinker. Your arguments are so limited and pitiful that there is no need to invent shortcomings for you.

And speaking of shoehorning, have you any comment on the blatant shoehorning, invention of facts, and confused misunderstandings displayed by those who claim the existence of fulfilled prophecy in the Bible?

How do you imagine a person would 'shoehorn' data, adfave? If they reported all their data that they collected (which is what reputable scientists do), how would the 'shoehorning' happen? They would need to either:

1) Not report data that they didn't like, or
2) Change the data to fit the result they want.

Either case is considered 'falsifying' the data.

Thank you for admitting that you commit fraud on a regular basis. I had long suspected this to be the case, but now I have a quote from you that I can use in the future when you pretend to be honest.
