God's arguments
[21:0] In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
One God [Yusufali 21:21] Or have they taken (for worship) gods from the earth who can raise (the dead)? [Yusufali 21:22] If there were, in the heavens and the earth, other gods besides Allah, there would have been confusion in both! but glory to Allah, the Lord of the Throne: (High is He) above what they attribute to Him! [Yusufali 21:23] He cannot be questioned for His acts, but they will be questioned (for theirs). [Yusufali 21:24] Or have they taken for worship (other) gods besides him? Say, "Bring your convincing proof: this is the Message of those with me and the Message of those before me." But most of them know not the Truth, and so turn away. One God/One Message/One Religion [Yusufali 21:25] Not a messenger did We send before thee without this inspiration sent by Us to him: that there is no god but I; therefore worship and serve Me. [Yusufali 21:26] And they say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten offspring." Glory to Him! they are (but) servants raised to honour. [Yusufali 21:27] They speak not before He speaks, and they act (in all things) by His Command. The Myth of Intercession [Yusufali 21:28] He knows what is before them, and what is behind them, and they offer no intercession except for those who are acceptable, and they stand in awe and reverence of His (Glory). [Yusufali 21:29] If any of them should say, "I am a god besides Him", such a one We should reward with Hell: thus do We reward those who do wrong. The Big Bang Theory Confirmed [Yusufali 21:30] Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? [Yusufali 21:32] And We have made the heavens as a canopy well guarded: yet do they turn away from the Signs which these things (point to)! [Yusufali 21:33] It is He Who created the Night and the Day, and the sun and the moon: all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its rounded course. [Yusufali 21:34] We granted not to any man before thee permanent life (here): if then thou shouldst die, would they live permanently? [Yusufali 21:35] Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and by good by way of trial. to Us must ye return. You can read the rest of the Sura here: http://www.submission.org/suras/sura21.html Please comment. :notworthy: "My Lord, Your judgment is the absolute justice. Our Lord is the Most Gracious; only His help is sought in the face of your claims." |

Sure.
What the heck is a 'god'? What kind of name does a 'god' typically have? How do you know that this 'god' thingy actually judges? Where can we find one, how do we identify it. etc. Or, shorter version, good grief, what utter codswallop. Fails as poetry, as literature, as science, as philosophy. no hugs for thugs, Shirley Knott |

Equal opportunity drive-by preaching.
Provide evidence Salam, that what you say is true. A traditional book is NOT evidence. Eldarion Lathria |

Where?
To what level of detail? With what evidential basis? Or is this yet another strained, perhaps even stretched to the breaking point, reinterpretation of vague poetic handwaving? There's nothing in the Koran that warrants treating it as anything other than pre-used toilet paper. Then again, I'm generally pretty contemptuous of poetry even 'as such'... no hugs for thugs, Shirley Knott |

I'm not trying to prove any point here or preach. I read an interesting verse in the Quran and I wanted to know the atheist point of view regarding it. |

Welcome to our board, Salam. We don't get many Muslims here, and we really need more to give us a fresh point of view.
I hope you have a thick skin wrt your religion. I don't have much to say about the passages you have quoted, except ... is Allah the same as YHWH? Because YHWH constantly mentions other gods in the Torah. |

Thank you Joan, I've been on this forum for a while now, more reading than participating in the discussions, I have to admit that most atheists here reason with logic, which I believe is the only way a human can determine what is right and what is wrong.
I'm a Sunni Muslim from Saudi Arabia (currently in the UK). And yes, Allah is the same as the Jewish/Christian God (The creator) However, Muslims doesn't unlike christians hold the Torah as basis of our belief for a number of reasons. |
