I don't think we're disagreeing on the Socratic Problem so it hardly matters. The so-called "Socratic Problem" exists. I guess I came upoin it in The Open Society and Its Enemies, by Popper, who goes into it. Also Schliermacher I think first identified the issue. But like I say, are we disagreeing on the Socratic Problem or its implication for your claim about sources?

I thought it was the latter.

The only thing I am claiming about sources is that nothing should be assumed about the reliability of any source prior to an investigation of its provenance. The existence of the Socratic problem does nothing to either support or refute that claim.
