donnerkeil-

It specifically sets out the damsel must be a virgin

Deu 22:28 If a man find a damsel [that is] a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

actually this whole passage of scripture deals with marriage, dowry and virginity, and penalties are specifically set out if you purport yourself to be a virgin, marry and then it turns out you were not a virgin. It also sets forth penalties for raping a virgin, raping a married woman, and committing adultery with another mans wife.

It never adresses people who never marry, or who never profess virginity, or people who are not caught !

as far as MATTHEW 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

the word used for woman is gune which is used to denote "wife" throughout the NT

Mar 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

gune {goo-nay'}

probably from the base of 1096; TDNT - 1:776,134; n f

AV - women 129, wife 92; 221

1) a woman of any age, whether a virgin, or married, or a widow
2) a wife
2a) of a betrothed woman

furthermore I have not found a word that signifies just female I have however noticed a dichotomy concerning the use of the word woman and maiden

woman is the greek "gune" which i gave the definition of earlier

maid is 2877 korasion {kor-as'-ee-on}

from a presumed derivative of kore (a maiden);; n n

AV - damsel 6, maid 2; 8

1) a girl, damsel, maiden

koritsi = girl
kyria = lady
gynaika = woman

hence it is not a stretch to conclude that
kore is the root for girl or maiden and that implies unmarried

gune most likely represents a female after marriage

so the prohibition against thinking about a "woman" [gune] more logically taken in the context used throughout the NT and also noting that if MATT had wanted to direct it towards unmarried women [kore] would have been more appropo.

Hi again, karlydee,

I know its cumbersome, but I'm glad you look to the Hebrew and Greek, to help clarrify some of the words. I do the same. I wish I had another copy of Gene Kasmar's book that spends 500 pages going into detail of not just the Hebrew and Greek, but also spends a great deal of time on the euphemisms. I have given away a half a dozen or so copies, and it is no longer in print. It's a real eye opener of just what lies behind some of these words. Often the KJV, tries to reword what is really being conveyed. Anyway, good job.

Seriously though, I think this is very interesting. Personally, I don't really see anything sacred in the institution of marriage -- I do see something sacred in the loving commitment to another being and serious attitude about sexual unity rather than a frivolous one.

I kind of have a problem with a flippant and or casual attitude towards sex. I do feel however, that when sex is seen not as some objective gratification, but as a mutual and shared expression of love and devotion to another, it is beautiful and healthy. Have I had sex with more than one person in my life? Yes I have... but have I gone down to the local club and looked for women to attempt to seducing into having a one night sex fling with me? No I haven't -- objectifiing love and the sexual experience in that way feels very wrong to me.

Any thoughts?

Andrew
I do not think it is wrong to have a fling if you are both ok with it.I have done it more than once, and it is both nice and less nice experiences.Personally I find sex better with someone that you love, or who really mean something to you.
And one night stands is not eally making you any more whole as a person or any more happy.

Actually I think it can destroy you in some way if you do it to much or for to long.I know people that almost have an oppsession about it, and they have problems commiting or settling down, even they find somone they likes,(like a "the flowers are nicer on the other side of the fence" thinking) but of course this does not count for everyone.

But typically for many guyies when they brake up after a longer relationship, they go out to comfort or support themselves with other girls.Then one day you wake up and find out you miss someone to care about and love...

Occ.

hard to have sex with stones...
Not if they're shaped right.
