Genesis 9:2-4
Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood (oh, and pigs - you can't eat pigs).

This 'God' guy just keep changing his mind, doesn't he?

Nothing is "plain English in Hebrew Literature, especially OT Lit. But that's just being semantical. Sorry.

In the first passage, god explicitly says he gave us plants. If you take that as meaning that we can eat vegetables-plus whatever else fancies us, Im sorry, but that is just not the case because later on he gives us permission to eat everything else. He used the exact same context in reference to animals. It is plain english.

Genesis 1 also taks about the creation of wild beasts. Why would they be called wild if they only ate grass?

"Wild" doesn't mean "carnivore", it means "not domesticated". Non-domesticated herbivores are "wild animals" and domestcated carnivores (such as cats) are not.

I love this...although I don't have much to add to the discussion, I want you all to know that everyone in the coffee shop is wondering why I am laughing at my computer. I personally think that any document translated more than twice without a pure copy of the original is flawed.
