I'm not saying this in a spiteful or mean way, but why do you claim that appeals to authority "mean nothing to you" (not true), and then give me a link to some atheist website which attempts to disprove the apostles' martyrdoms? Is this not an appeal to authority?

You are also asking questions outside the proof, looking back in to confirm your argument that the books must have contained 100% truth. Impossible to do as you can do this with many books of fiction.

Using your same technique. Let me ask you a few questions

Why didn’t Jesus have someone taking down every word he spoke as it came out of his mouth?

Why wait so many years for it to be recorded, thereby casting doubt on most every word spoken?

I can’t even remember what my wife told me this morning, much less what was spoken 10 years ago.

Can you find 2 people who heard a sermon 10 years ago that would agree as to what was said, what emphasis was placed on what, what exact words that were used, what real message was being taught? …. Now try that 70 years later and add in several years of teaching and important sentences.

If your god writes books under those conditions, I will wait for the next god to arrive.

controls all copies of the papers, people
only know what they can read, since as
pointed out in another response to the thread,
memories tend to forget details.

to decide which writings are "cannon" and
which ones aren't?

1984 is about the WWII and the Cold War. The Ministry of Truth is the BBC, and Winston's London is the dreary London of the war and immediate postwar years.
